Counseling Awareness Month 2018
April is Counseling Awareness month and the American Counseling Association (ACA) has dedicated a page on their website chock full of tools and resources. Please click here for more information.
This month ACA-NY will continue to work towards advocating for the word “diagnosis” to be added to the legal definition of duties of Licensed Mental Health Counselors. Please continue to contact your legislators to support AB2664 and SB 3766. ACA has a letter already prepared for you that you can add onto, or send as is. Please click here to connect to Voter Voice for an easy way to communicate with your state legislators.
Over the past few days I have received inquiries about the passing of Part Y of the Health and Mental Health Article VII. At this time we are in communication with ACA about what this means for LMHC’s, Limited Permit holding MHC’s, and Mental Health Counseling Interns. As we learn more we will try our best to keep you up to date.
If you are going to be attending the American Counseling Association conference at the end of the month please visit the North Atlantic table for ACA-NY updates or join us during our Annual ACA-NY Business meeting Saturday, April 28th from 11:00AM-12:00PM in the Magnolia Room of the Omni Hotel at CNN Center.
We look forward to seeing you there.
